JPPF to launch struggle against continuation of Toll Tax in J&K

JAMMU, July 25: Jammu Province People Forum (JPPF),  an amalgam of  more than 50 social, commercial and other organizations of Jammu  province, has resolved to wage   a struggle against continuation of  Toll Tax along with GST in the State.
In a meeting  of the JPPF held under the chairmanship of  its  president,  Pavitar Singh (Retd District and Sessions Judge), the members  strongly demanded that Toll Tax be withdrawn  immediately in the State. They said  if  the GST  has been implemented in  the entire State, then imposing double tax ( Toll Tax) is against the spirit of  `One County, One Tax’. The Forum  resolved  to launch a vigorous campaign against this move.
Neeraj Anand,  president  Association of  Traders Federation was special invitee to the meeting. GST and its  implications were discussed threadbare.  The JPPF president  noted with concern that State Government is imposing Toll Tax on goods even after imposition of GST in the  State  which amounts to double taxation. It is  an extra burden on the consumers of the State.  He said the Forum has decided to fight and oppose this double taxation.
Meeting also discussed the report submitted by the JPPF Fact Finding Committee which was constituted to have a on the spot assessment of Medicare facilities in the premier health institutions in the Jammu province. Members of this FFC are  Avinash Bhatia, Ch Kamal Singh,  Pritam Sharma,  Rajesh Thakur (Convener FFC). President  JPPF appreciated the work done by the FFC on Medicare and it was decided that a delegation of JPPF will meet Health Minister and a memorandum will be given to him based on the report of FFC for taking immediate steps for improving Health Care in the State especially in Jammu province.
MS Katoch, Working president JPPF,  ML Sharma,  R S Jamwal,  Avinash Bhatia,  Rajinder Gupta,  Uday Chand,  Rajesh Thakur,  Preety Chowdhary,  Surinder Vir,  Kuldeep Sharma, PR Slathia, Pritam Sharma, Prof  O P Sharma, Shashi Sharma,  Krishan Singh and many other senior JPPF members were present in the meeting.
