JAMMU, July 20: Jammu Province People Forum (JPPF), a non-political outfit and the conglomerate of more than 50 organisations including social, religious, traders, transporters, intellectuals, academicians and numerous NGOs engaged in the struggle for protecting the rights of Jammu, has condemned the role of Pakistan and Hurriyat leaders in view of recent turmoil in Kashmir and appealed to the civil society to restore peace and maintain brotherhood at all costs in Kashmir.
In view of the recent unrest and the continued disturbances in Kashmir valley for the last 10 days which took the toll of more than 43 human lives and property worth crores besides injuries to more than 1700 civilians and hundreds of the police and paramilitary forces, Jammu Province People Forum convened a civil society meet here today with situation thus erupted in Kashmir and its impact in Jammu including Shri Amarnath Yatra.
The meet was represented by the presidents of Bar Association Jammu, Chamber of Commerce & Industries, Transport Unions, Amar Kshatriya Rajput Sabha, Dogra Brahmin Pratinidhi Sabha, Khatri Sabha, Kashyap Rajput Sabha, Balmiki Sabha, Megh Sudhar Sabha, Ravi Dass Sabha, Mahasha Saddar Sabha, Sanatan Dharam Sabha, Dharamarth Trust, Mahajan Sabha, Jammu Paryatan Vikas Mandal, All Jammu Hotels & Lodges Association, Kranti Dal, Raghunath Bazar Shopkeepers Association, Hari Market Shopkeepers Association, besides associations of shopkeepers of Gumat Bazar, Link Road, Pacca Danga Traders Association, Raj Tilak Road, Patel Bazar, Fattu Chougan Traders Association, Kali Janni, Moti Bazar and Jain Bazar Traders Associations.
The meet unanimously condemned Pakistan and Pro- Pak Hurriyat Conference and other anti-national elements for exploiting misguided Kashmiris for creating disturbances and turmoil in Kashmir which had a drastic impact on Shri Amarnath yatra besides loss of more than 43 precious human lives and property worth crores.
Coming down heavily on the pro- Pak separatists for prompting and misguiding Valley youth to adopt gun culture, president Pavittar Singh while addressing the meeting asked the State Govt and the Center to immediately arrest and register FIR against the anti-nationals including Syed Ali Shah Jeelani and others responsible for the death of more than 40 innocent youth and injuring grievously more than 1700 civilians and over 1000 jawans of police and paramilitary forces. The killing of the militant Burhan Wani by the security forces who had an award of Rs 10 lakh at his head being a dreaded militant, the Govt should issue award for his elimination.
While accusing the separatists for the turmoil, the president asked the State Govt and the Centre to immediately withdraw security provided to them and put them behind the bars immediately to restore normalcy.
The president condemned the statement of Muzaffar Hussain Beig, PDP MP against the security forces for eliminating the militant. He appealed to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to expel such MPs immediately because such statements demoralize the moral of security forces.
Regarding Shri Amarnath Yatra, JPPF chief said that it stands aborted due to the turmoil created in the Valley by the separatists. The traders had high hopes this year and were expecting more than Rs 500 crores of business. The Government need a thorough deliberation to ensure fool proof security to the yatris.
The meet resolved to convey sympathies to the bereaved families who lost their kins and prayed for early recovery of the injured including paramilitary forces. It was also resolved that the public should remain watchful about the rumors and mischief mongers and maintain peace, amity and brotherhood at all costs.
