JAMMU, Dec 30: In a general body meeting of Jammu Pharmaceutical Distributors’ Association (JPDA) held here today, the association took up their demands and problems with Ch Lal Singh, Minister for Health & Medical Education, who was the chief guest on the occasion.
Rajesh Gupta, MLA Jammu East, was the guest of honour. The meeting was also attended by the Controller of Drugs and Food Control Organization, Lotika Khajuria, along with other officers of the department.
While speaking on the occasion, JPDA president, Rakesh Gupta, demanded the Health Minister that in case any medicine fails a quality test then the wholesaler or the chemist should be made a witness in the legal proceedings and not be booked as an accused if they have valid purchase records.
Gupta said that it was necessary that the Health Ministry and the pharma traders work together to provide better health care facilities to the people at large.
In his speech, Ch Lal Singh explained the practical problems being faced by his Ministry and the corrective measures he was taking in the interest of public health. He reassured one and all that it was his prime duty to provide medicines to the poorest at an affordable cost.
He warned any type of nexus between the pharma industry and the doctors. He also explained the process of e-Tendering being followed to make the Health Departments accountable and transparent.
