Excelsior Correspondent Leh, Dec 10: On the third day of his tour of Sham area, Minister for Tourism and Culture, Nawang Rigzin Jora today visited the villages of Takmachik, Domkhar Gongma, Domkhar Barma, Domkhar Dho, Skurbuchan, Lehdho and Achinathang. He was accompanied by EC, Agriculture Sonam Dorjey, ADC, Leh Tsering Murup, Councilor Skurbuckan Dawa Tsering, Councilor Lamayuru, Tsering Angchuk, Councilor Lingshet Sonam Dorjey and a team of district and block level officers. The people of Takmachik apprised the Minister that some of the families which were badly affected in August 2010 flash flood still did not get any relief and urged to address their problems. They also demanded for early completion of Langru – Takmachik Irrigation Canal as Takmachik village has always faced scarcity of water. At Domkhar Gongma the people demanded for improvement of Domkhar Dho to Domkhar Gongma road, tourism intensive facilities like paying guest, home stays for their village, posting of required teaching staff in their newly upgraded High School and early completion of PHE schemes. The people of Domkhar Barma headed by their Sarpanch demanded for providing flood protection bands at Nallah Tokpo. The people of Domkhar Dho demanded to upgrade their MAC to Allopathic Centre and early completion of their already sanctioned water supply scheme. At Skurbuchan, the people demanded construction of roads for those hamlets which are still not connected, early completion of water supply scheme, DSPT facilities, early posting of Principal for Higher Secondary School Skurbuchan and Ambulance and sufficient medical staff for the hospital of Skurbuchan. At Lehdho, people demanded early launching of bridge over Indus River, reconstruction of MAC, construction of Lehdho to Lehdho Dok link road and early completion of their water supply scheme. Addressing the public gathering at various places, Jora stressed on improving and imparting quality education with special appeal to mothers to give education to their children to excel in this competitive world. At all the villages Jora gave on spot directions to the concerned HoDs to take up people’s demands seriously. He also gave instructions to the Engineers to speed up various ongoing projects in Sham area and also announced funds out of MLA Consistency Development Funds at various villages for developmental works.
