SRINAGAR, Sept 30: Minister for Urban Development and Urban Local Bodies Nawang Rigzin Jora today convened a high level meeting to review status of on-going Comprehensive Sewerage Schemes for Mission city Jammu and Mission City Srinagar being executed through National Building Construction Corporation (NBBC) under JNNURM at a cost of Rs 129.24 crore and Rs 132.90 crore respectively. About 95 per cent work on these schemes have been completed so far.
The Sewerage Scheme Jammu comprises 26.53 kms of trunk sewer line and 65.50 kms of Lateral Sewar Line whereas Srinagar Sewerage Scheme envisages construction of 60 MLD Sewerage Treatment Plant (STP) 37.60 kms Trunk Sewer Line and 78.63 kms Lateral Sewer Lines.
The meeting, among others, was also attended by the Secretary Housing and Urban Development, Satish Nehru, vice Chairman, Lakes ad Waterway Development Authority, Irfan Yasin, Chief Engineer, UEED, J&K, Mohammad Hanief, General Manager NBCC, Mohammad Rafiq Joint Director, Planning and Statistics, P. S. Kakroo.
The Minister also reviewed progress on various Sewerage Schemes being executed in Jammu and Kashmir divisions by the Urban Environment Engineering Department (UEED). These include Rs 26. 41 crore Pilot Sewerage Scheme, BrariNambal, Rs 43.20 crore Pilot Sewerage Scheme, Khashalsar, Rs 2 crore activation of Dewatering Station, Khanyar, Rs 1.57 crore Sewerage Scheme of Baba-Dharamdass.
The meeting also reviewed status of Solid Waste Management Projects in Udhampur and Rajouri recommended under Special Task Force for Jammu and Ladakh and Solid Waste Management Projects under execution under Urban Development Sector at Katra, Khour, Pulwama, Kulgam and Budgam.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister asked the concerned departments including Municipal Corporations and Committees, R&B, PHE and NBCC to work in close coordination to work out strategies for removing impediments in the way of speedy completion of various sewerage projects in various parts of the State.
He called for close monitoring of development works to ensure judicious use of funds and their time bound completion. He asked the concerned engineers and officers to work with dedication.
