Joint security group takes stock of security in Poonch, Rajouri

JAMMU:
To take stock of the prevailing security situation in the frontier districts of Poonch and Rajouri, a joint security group conference was held at Romeo Force Headquarters today.
“To take stock of the prevailing security situation in the area and chalk out a joint strategy to keep the twin districts of Rajouri and Poonch free of any untoward incidents in view of forthcoming Republic Day celebration, a joint security group conference was held in Rajouri today,” a defence spokesman said.
He said that the meeting was chaired by General Officer Commanding, Romeo Force, and was attended by SSP Rajouri, SSP Poonch, DIG, BSF and other representatives of civil administration, police, security and intelligence agencies.
The General Officer Commanding, Romeo Force, emphasised on the need to be vigilant in the present context to any situation that may develop in the twin districts of Rajouri and Poonch.
“Both the SSPs briefed the gathering on the internal security situation and various steps taken to maintain law and order in the region. Participants expressed their views on various issues and measures for management of security environment prevailing in the region,” he said.
He said that in view of the Republic Day celebrations various measures that needed to be adopted to keep the area free of any terrorist related incidents were also discussed during the meeting. (AGENCIES)
