JAMMU, Jan 22: The Joint Action, an amalgam of various social organizations and sects fighting for the cause of general category people on the issue of `no reservation in promotions’, has threatened stir against the MLAs forming consortium for exerting pressure on the Government to revive reservation in promotions.
“At this juncture when war like situation is prevailing in border areas. certain MLAs
are busy in forming consortium based on caste. The action of these MLAs speak volumes of the brewing hatred among them against general category masses and they have also breached the oath of Constitution taken by them,” said Ved Prakash Sharma, convenor JAC and president of Dogra Brahman Pratinidhi Sabha, while addressing a press conference along with other members of the Joint Action Committee.
He informed about the design of certain MLAs who have formed a consortium irrespective of party affiliation to persue passage of a Bill overruling the judgement of High Court striking down the reservation in promotion Rules 9, 10 and 34 and See 6 of Reservation Act 200S.
“The matter assumes significance in wake of the Supreme Court order of status quo in the SLP filed by reserved category people seeking relief from being demoted,” he said and asked these MLAs to desist from their move.
Speaking on the occasion, Narayan Singh, president of Amar Kshatriya Rajput Sabha, also expressed serious concern and displeasure over the conduct of these MLAs and BJP Legislators in particular who have been voted to power by people irrespective of caste, colour and creed but now behaving in partisan manner by trying to bring amendments to overrule the justice delivered by Judicial system.
” These MLAs have paid no attention to the issues of Jammu and instead are mooting such partisan ideas of bringing amendments on the issue of reservation in promotion,” he said adding that the subject issue being subjudice needs to be left to the apex court for justice.
Anil Gour, JAC Secretary Org) warned the political parties and their MLAs to refrain from playing vote bank politics and act on the sacred oath of constitution which they have taken. “The General category people form nearly 70 percent population of the State and any step of the political parties to muzzle the voice of general category and undermining the judicial verdict shall be suicidal,” he warned and announced that the Joint Action Committee as a mark of protest against such MLAs in particular would stage sit in protest outside the residences of these MLAs to make general category masses aware and vigilant to be prepared for giving a political alternative to the people.
The Joint Action Committee also appealed to General category people to ask questions to their respective MLAs and seek answers from them on this issue, making them aware that the general category voters must not be taken for granted
Jammu Kashmir General Category Welfare Forum chairman Syed Shameem Ahmad, Joint secretary Jaffer Rather, spokesperson Shabir Ahmad Shah, Gh Moidin and Yashpal Senson also joined the press conference.
They impressed upon the general category people to intensify their agitation and come on roads if any move against them is initiated by the political parties. They warned the pro-reservation MLAs to refrain from playing vote bank politics, which would be suicidal for them.
