Jogishwari Mandir Trust asks Govt to ensure security of shrine, property

JAMMU, Apr 25: Jogishwari Mandir Trust (JMT), Ghat Jogi Lanker, Rainawari, Srinagar, Kashmir in a meeting of its Trustees has warned the trespassers and land shakrs eyeing on the property of the holy religious place of Kashmiri Pandits.
The Trust which met here, today under the chairmanship of its president Benner Ji Hak said the ancient Jogishwari Mandir(Lokut Mandir),its shopping complex is located at Ghat Jogi Lanker, Rainawari, Srinagar. Besides, ancient Gopi Tirath Temples, its natural spring and approximately 20 kanals of land located at Brein,Nishat. Hak said Gopi Tirath is an ancient Shaiva Trika Tantric religious site having immense religious significance for the practitioners of Kashmir Shaivism. From the last over three decades, this highly spiritual site has become the target of the land sharks and land mafia due to turmoil in Kashmir. As the Kashmiri Pandits had to leave Valley due to turmoil in 1990, it has made the Gopi Tirath vulnerable to unscrupulous elements.
He appealed the J and K Union Territory administration led by the Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha to safeguard ancient Gopi Tirath. He also demanded security to the ancient Gopi Tirath ,Brein ,Nishat, Srinagar, so that the religious sanctity is maintained and this heritage of our worthy ancestors is preserved.
Warning the unscrupulous elements and land sharks, he said “Jogishwari Mandir Trust being the owner of this property so organising any event or function without the prior consent, approval and permission of the Trust by any organisation or NGO or Ashram at in the temple premises will be unlawful and trespassers will be dealt legally.
He further said as DC Srinagar is the custodian of the Displaced Kashmiri Pandit Migrant properties including the temples and their land he should provide round the clock security for the Gopi Tirath complex.
Raising the issue of illegal occupants at the Jogishwari Temple Shopping Complex at Ghat Jogi Lanker Chowk at Rainawari, Srinagar, he further urged DC Srinagar and UT administration to facilitate the vacation of the illegal occupants from the shops of the Mandir Shopping Complex.
The Trustees who were present included Surinder Kumar Kaul, Sunil Chowdhary, B.L.Jalali, Rakesh Hangloo, Anil Kachroo, Krishen Ji Bhat, Dileep Ji Handoo, Shiban Ji Khar and Dr. Mahesh Kaul.
