KISHTWAR, Feb 15: The Congress leader and Member Civil Society, Kishtwar, Shamsher Singh Bhandari today called for free electricity supply to the inhabitants of Kishtwar district as was promised by the NHPC at the time of taking over of 390 MW Dul-Hasti power project and demanded jobs for local unemployed youths including engineers, diploma holders in 1000 mw Pakal-Dul Power Project and in other power projects viz Kwar, Kerru and 850 mw Rattle Project.
In a press statement issued here, Bhandari said the genuine aspirations of the people of Kishtwar are that the youth of the area should be absorbed in the under construction power projects. He called upon DC Kishtwar, Ashok Kumar Sharma to take up the issue related to unemployed youths with the Government as well as with the higher officials of NHPC and CVPPP so that the aspirations of locals as was promised to them will get fulfilled.
He said that the Government should include provisions of free electricity in Kishtwar town and its peripheral areas, installations of high mask lights in each ward of Kishtwar Municipality and outside the town, black topping of two important city roads viz Om Mehta and Bagwan Mohallah road exclusively used by the Corporation, beside construction of proper drainage system as present drainage system is chocked due to down flow of water and sewage from NHPC colony.
He also demanded judicious use of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds which is 2 percent out of the income generated from the power projects and called upon the administration to form a Committee involving locals and officials from administration so that the funds could be utilised properly.
