JMC team takes stock of work on Sewerage Treatment Plant

JAMMU, June 26: Mayor of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), Chander Mohan Gupta along with Deputy Mayor, Purnima Sharma today took stock of the work on Sewerage Treatment Plant and other allied activities in Ward Numbers 31 and 32 at Bhagwati Nagar.
JMC Councilors-Parmod Kapahi, Satpal Karlupia, S. Sucha Singh and Rakesh Gupta along with Superintending Engineer, Ashwani Seth; Executive Engineer, Rakesh Changroo AEE UEED, representative of NBCC and others were also part of the visiting JMC team.
The JMC team took the status of work being done and other related network on the Sewerage Treatment Plant by the UEED.
Speaking on the occasion the Mayor said that UEED has been directed to prepare a fresh DPR at an earliest for starting a suitable project to clean the water of River Tawi so that 18 nallahs of Jammu city flowing through the city towards River Tawi may not pollute the river.
He also said that a bio remediation method shall be started soon on the bank of River Tawi as per the guidelines of NGT to protect the river from further pollution till the permanent treatment plant is made functional.
The Mayor along with others also inspected the work being done by NBCC on right bank of River Tawi for connecting the household connections with sewerage pipes and showed serious concern over the slow and incomplete work of the NBCC.
The Mayor said that JMC has already written to the Government for allotting more funds for installing the left over work of sewerage treatment plant which is the need of the hour.
