JMC seizes unhygienic pickles, cooked food

JAMMU, Feb 5: Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) today seized pickles and cooked food kept for sale at trade fair outlets at Gole Market, Gandhi Nagar.
A team of food safety officers of JMC led by Health Officer Dr Mohammad Saleem Khan under the supervision of Commissioner Kiran Wattal visited Gandhi Nagar area to check the quality of commonly used food items.
During the visit, the team seized 21 plastic baskets of pickles weighing about 2 quintals and about 40 kilograms of cooked food kept for sale from Trade Fair outlets at Gole Market, Gandhi Nagar.
The seized items were found unhygienic and exposed to dust and flies. Moreover food items were sold without obtaining permission from JMC authorities.
