JMC seals building housing restaurant

JAMMU, Jan 7: Jammu Municipal Corporation yesterday sealed the ground floor of the commercial building housing the restaurant with name and style “Kafeberry” at Sector 2, Channi Himmat, for illegal conversion of the parking area at ground floor into a restaurant in violation of the approved building permission thereby causing nuisance and impeding pedestrian and traffic movement much to the inconvenience of the residents of the area.
The owner, Parul Nagpal, wife of Ritin Nagpal, resident of 69-A/D Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, had been afforded sufficient opportunity to restore the illegal commercial space to its original statutory land use, the parking area, but there was continued non-compliance on the part of the owner which led to the sealing of the violative portion by the Enforcement staff of Jammu Municipal Corporation.
The residents of Channi Himmat maintained that the commercial activity in the premises had seriously been causing traffic and other environmental hazards in the area. Commissioner JMC has appealed to the city dwellers to desist from such violations and strictly adhere to the extant building by-laws for the planned development of the city.
