JAMMU, July 24: A Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) team here today conducted a drive at Bikram Chowk, Green Belt Park and Gandhi Nagar areas and removed illegal hoardings and banners from various main roads, rooftop of buildings and also from ground.
The illegal hoardings which were in place since years were also removed as all these hoardings were installed without the permission of JMC.
A handout of JMC stated that installation of such illegal hoardings, signboards, posters, banners and bill boards deface the property, buildings and walls of the city and are also constant threat to pedestrians and traffic safety.
JMC authorities have appealed to the general public to remove all such hoardings, sign boards etc installed illegally failing which action will be initiated against the offenders and further contravention of the same shall attract penalty.
The drive to remove hoardings etc was initiated on the directions of JMC Commissioner, Avny Lavasa and under the overall supervision of Secretary JMC, Tinna Mahajan.
