JAMMU, Feb 19: Under the Public Samvaad initiative launched by the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), a program was organized today in Ward 25, Rehari Colony, Jammu.
The event witnessed the presence of distinguished dignitaries, including Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Jammu West, Arvind Gupta and Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), Dr Devansh Yadav, who presided over the function.
Addressing the gathering, Arvind Gupta underscored the importance of community participation in shaping the future of Jammu. He emphasized that such programs foster active citizen engagement. He further stated that JMC remains committed to ensuring that developmental initiatives align with the needs and aspirations of the people.
Commissioner JMC, Dr Devansh Yadav, highlighted that the Public Samvaad initiative serves as a crucial platform for open dialogue between citizens and municipal officials. He assured the public that all demands raised during the session would be taken into consideration, with focused attention given to their redressal in the upcoming budget.
Dr Yadav also elaborated on various initiatives undertaken by JMC to improve basic amenities, reiterating the corporation’s dedication to enhancing the quality of life for Jammu’s residents.
As part of the event, dignitaries participated in a tree plantation drive, reaffirming their commitment to environmental sustainability. Additionally, a cleanliness pledge was taken by all attendees, reinforcing the collective responsibility of maintaining a clean and green Jammu.
During the interaction, local residents presented a charter of demands, which included the repair of streetlights, development and maintenance of parks, as well as the cleanliness of lanes and drains. These concerns were duly noted by the officials, who assured prompt action to address them.
The event was attended by several senior officials of the JMC, including Joint Commissioner (A) Krishan Lal, Joint Commissioner (H&S) Abdul Star, Deputy Commissioner (North) Sanjay Badyal, Secretary JMC Chand Singh, Joint Commissioner (Works) Firdous Ahmad Qazi, Health Officer Dr Vinod Sharma, MVO Dr Jaswant Singh, and Executive Engineer (Electric) Simranpal Singh.
