JAMMU, Jan 24: A programme was organized on the theme “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” under the chairmanship of Mayor, JMC, Chander Mohan Gupta and Dy. Mayor, JMC, Purnima Sharma in presence of Corporators and Commissioner, JMC, Pankaj Magotra. During this occasion, Assistant Commissioner (Rev.), Prem Singh, officers and staff of JMC were also present.
On this occasion a presentation was made by Dr. Zaffar Iqbal, MVO, JMC. In the presentation Dr. Zaffar highlighted the reasons why women face prejudice around the world, reasons for declining sex ratio, girls education, reasons for poor literacy rate, sports trends in India and reasons for low participation in India.
The Mayor, while addressing the Corporators and other participants stressed upon the society for equal education of girls and boys would provide more equal rights and less discrimination against girls. The purpose of observing “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” week from 21st to 27th January 2019 aims to save girl child, educating them and let them to play. The society should come forward to aware the common masses to make the girls a proud of our nation.
The Dy. Mayor, Purnima Sharma while addressing the participants stressed upon them to make girls educated and said that the discrimination towards girls should not be allowed. She recalled the proud moments of women in India.
On this occasion, Chairman, Public Health Sanitation Committee, Baldev Singh Billawaria and Corporators Yash Pal Sharma, Prof. (Dr.) Yudhvir Singh, Sanjay Baru, Surinder Choudhary, Dwarka Choudhary, Pawan Singh, Rekha Manhas, Surjit Singh and Anil Kumar also shared their views.
The Mayor and Dy. Mayor complimented all the chairpersons, councilors and entire team of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) for observing orientation programme on “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” and hoped such type of programmes will be organized in near future also.
