JAMMU, Apr 29: Drive against adulteration, smoking in public places and polythene carry bags was launched today by the team of Health & Sanitation wing of Jammu Municipal Corporation.
The drive was launched under the supervision of Dr Mohd Saleem Khan, Health Officer JMC, on the directions of Commissioner JMC Kiran Wattal.
During the drive, teams inspected various food establishments at Jewel Chowk, Bikram Chowk, Panama Chowk, Railway Road, Kachi Chawni, Sarwal etc of Jammu city.
Two samples of mixed milk from M/s Yadav Milk shop Tange Wali Gali and Besan from M/s Janta Provisional & General store at Lakshmi Nagar Sarwal were lifted and sent to the Food Analyst, Jammu for ascertaining standards of purity.
Drive against public smoking was also launched in which five persons were booked under COPT Act 2003 and a fine of Rs 500 was imposed on them.
Team also visited many places and about 16 Kgs of Polythene carry bags were seized. A fine of Rs 5,400 was imposed on defaulters.
