JMC continues anti encroachment drive

JAMMU, Mar 10: The enforcement staff led by Chief Enforcement Officer under the guidance of Kiran Wattal, Commissioner Municipal Corporation Jammu while continuing and intensifying the anti encroachment drive to clear the footpaths / pavements from encroachments undertook a drive in the areas of Trikuta Nagar near entry gate of Railway Station and removed about 20 hawkers who had encroached upon the footpath causing inconvenience to the pedestrians and also caused obstruction in the free flow of vehicular traffic leading to traffic jams.
During the drive the team seized two truck loads of material comprising of umbrellas, cricket bats, blankets, crates, baskets, wooden boxes which had been kept by the hawkers by encroaching upon footpath. The drive has been conducted with the help of police force from Trikuta Nagar, Police Station supervised personally by Sub-Divisional Police Officer Jammu East and force from Dist. Police Lines Jammu.
Besides this, the team also demolished the platform raised over municipal drain at Channi Himmat blocking the visibility of the adjoining shop and also seized the fridge kept over the said platform. The action has been taken with the assistance of police force led by Station House Officer from Channi Himmat Police Station.
The Jammu Municipal Corporation once again appeals to the hawkers to refrain from making encroachments and also to the shopkeepers to keep their goods within their shops / establishments to avoid seizure of these goods and penalty for such defaults as such encroachments cause the obstructions which hamper the free movement of vehicular traffic and pedestrians thereby causing inconvenience to the general public.
