JAMMU, Jan 23: JK Youth Sharnarthi Action Committee  has appealed to USA President,  Barak  Obama through Ambassador of  USA to India, New Delhi for his kind intervention in the settlement of  PoK refugees’ problems.
In his letter, R C Sharma, its presdient  has mentioned that since October 1947 the PoK refugees are languishing in unhygienic camps for last 67 years and struggling for their settlement and claims.  He appealed the US President to use his good offices and influence the Indian Government for settlement of different claims put forth by the PoK refugees.
He also mentioned that the PoK refugees are living in exile for 67 years and struggling for their claims and rights. He  was also requested to take up the issue with Indian Prime Minister during his visit to India which is scheduled on January 25 to at New Delhi. He said that PoK refugees are deprived off their political right as their 24 Assembly seats are kept freezed by the State Government and elections are conducted only on 87 seats out of 111 Assembly segments, which is great blunder on the part of State as well as Union Government of India.
Mentioning about the worst genocide of the century, he said that 70,000 people including children and women were brutally murdered by the Pakistani regular Army and ‘Qabailis’ too, which is great slot on the humanity. He said that our third generation is facing exile and languishing in camps for last seven decades, which is worst example in the world. He urged Mr Obama to personally intervene in this matter on the humanitarian ground and be an instrumental in providing us a sigh of relief.
The matter is being unnecessarily delayed since decades and needs sympathetic considerations in proper settlement along with all claims on humanitarian grounds.
