KATHUA, July 11: J&K Youth Congress today slammed BJP Government at the Centre for its failure to control inflation and rising fuel prices.
Addressing a meeting of office bearers of Youth Congress Kathua district unit, Jagdeev Gaga, National Secretary Indian Youth Congress said escalating prices of petroleum products have brought the common households on the brink of starvation as every next day is the day of hike of fuel prices whether it is petrol, diesel or cooking gas. They termed BJP as a failed party and the Central Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a complete disaster, citing unprecedented trajectory of ‘everyday’ hike in fuel rates.
Uday Bhanu Chib, JKPYC president, in his address, said that the petrol and diesel prices had been increasing constantly after the BJP came to power at the Centre in 2014. “On the one hand, fuel prices are increasing, on the other hand, people are losing jobs and there is high inflation. The BJP government isn’t doing anything to give respite to people. We want the government to either reduce the excise duty on fuel or bring it under the GST, so that the prices come down,” he added.
Romi Sharma, District Youth Congress president Kathua said that the unscheduled power cuts have made the life of people residing in rural areas are complete hell. He said due to irregular power supply the farmers have also facing severe hardships.
Youth Congress activists demanded that the increased prices should be withdrawn with immediate effect and the increase in excise duty should be rolled back to provide relief to the masses suffering from inflation and recession.
Among those who were present in the meeting included DYC vice presidents Rahul Nagla and Mukesh Kumar, general secretaries Manish Sharma and Varun Sudhan, AYC president Gagan Deep, AYC president Romi Andotra and others.
