JAMMU, Oct 23: Jammu Kashmir Teacher/Master Association (JKTMA) has appealed Secretary School Education Department to conduct DPC of Teachers/Masters to lecturers on fast track basis by 100 percent promotion quota as per State Administrative Council (SAC) decision and create more and more vacant posts of Teachers in order to adjust Grade 2 and Grade 3 Teachers who are placed on supernumerary posts
“If Govt is serious to improve quality of Education in J&K and implement NEP 2020 effectively in letter and spirit, then foremost works to be done are to fill all vacant posts of lecturers by 100 percent DPC by excluding distance degree holders in Science stream , except those who are enrolled in distance courses prior to 2005 as per Order 252-HE and introduce new subjects like biotechnology in newly upgraded Higher Secondaries so that students get maximum choice of options near their doorsteps,” said Rakesh Singh, President of the Association, while addressing a press conference, here today.
Maintaining that ongoing rationalization was very much needed step to improve PTR (Pupil-Teacher Ratio) in rural areas, he said focus should be given on math Teachers for their optimum utilisation in High schools, as students of rural areas are suffering due to lack of Math Teachers in their institutions and in transfer policy also transfers of Math and Urdu Teachers should be done separately, keeping in view that all High schools specially in rural areas , receive at least one such teacher in their institution.
Drawing attention towards the J&K High Court verdict and Government order No: 2087-JK (Edu) of 2022 Dated: 07/10/2022, according to which Science degrees obtained through distance mode are denied equivalence to regular science degrees, Rakesh Singh said that despite this circular, some Teachers/Masters were given promotion benefits under the patronage of then concerned higher officers, simply by showing bonafide certificate, which is injustice with regular science degree holders.
Demanding immediate release of the promotion list of Teachers, the Association threatened to launch agitation if the promotion list is not released within a week.
