POONCH, Aug 3: The Jammu & Kashmir Teachers Joint Action Committee (JKTJAC) has appealed Government to revise the current school timing in the Jammu Winter Zone, which is presently from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and instead restore the earlier and more practical timing of 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
In a statement issued JKTJAC general secretary Najam Jafri, it has been emphasized that the current timing is highly unsuitable due to prevailing weather conditions. During school dispersal hours, extreme heat or sudden downpours make it extremely difficult for students and teachers-especially those from remote areas-to cross streams and rivers safely while returning home. In many cases, this situation could pose serious safety risks, he added.
The statement further noted that the previously followed 9 AM to 3 PM schedule had proven to be more weather-appropriate and ensured better safety and convenience for all concerned.
JKTJAC has strongly urged the administration to reconsider the current schedule and implement the 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM timing once again, so that educational activities are not disrupted and both students and staff are spared unnecessary hardship.
