JAMMU, Feb 25: Releasing a pamphlet on ‘Code of Professional Ethics’ Jammu Kashmir Teachers Forum today suggested a slew of measures, particularly introduction of Indian Educational Service (IES), for greater good of the department.
Addressing a press conference, here today, JKTF Chairman Ganesh Khajuria and President Mohammad Akbar Khan said that administrative officers who are given key postings in the department are transferred within a couple of years just when they get down to the nitty-gritty of things.
“Taking nothing away from their administrative insight and professional acumen but it would be ideal if a dedicated field of Indian Education Service is introduced by the ministry of HRD and officers from the field are given key postings in the educational setup,” said Ganesh Khajuria, adding that this not only will bring in a fresh competent and invigorated set of Education Administrative Officers but will also ensure that trained, skilled and apt Officers are not lost to other departments in the system.
“This will also ignite a hunt for new talent and spirit and will also ensure that the resource from the department itself is empowered and groomed. The introduction of Indian Educational Services will surely prove to be a watershed moment in the history of the country,” he stressed.
Mohammad Akbar Khan said that the Central Government in its New Education Policy (NEP 2020) has also proposed to revive the IES even as there was no progress over the same for the last one year.
