JKSRTC announces Srinagar to Rajouri bus service via Mughal rd

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir State Road Transport Corporation (JKSRTC) today announced maiden bus service from Srinagar to Rajouri via Mughal road – an alternate road connecting Kashmir with Jammu region.

JKSRTC has started a bus service from Srinagar to Kalakote (Rajouri district) via Mughal Road for facilitation of general public as it has been a demand from trading community and general commuters including locals of the area,” an official spokesman said.

He said the service will operate from Lal Chowk, nerve centre of Srinagar, daily at 7 AM and have intermediary stops at Shopian, Peer Ki Gali, Bufliaz, Thanamandi, Rajouri, Dangri and Salsoo.

The 84 km-long Mughal Road, which connects Poonch district of Jammu region with Shopian district of Kashmir Valley, is considered to be an alternative to Jammu-Srinagar National highway.

The construction of Moghal road had started during the previous Mufti Mohmmad Sayeed led PDP-Congress government in 2004 and is now traffic able. (AGENCIES)
