JAMMU, Nov 22: J&K State Pensioners’ Association (JKSPA) today highlighted the long outstanding grievances of the pensioners and sought intervention of KK Sharma, Advisor to Governor, in addressing the same.
In a communication addressed to the Advisor, the Association expressed serious concern that the authorities at the helm of affairs are ignoring the long outstanding grievances of the pensioners and are least bothered to solve their problems.
Krishan Singh, JKSPA president said that Senior Citizens Day has recently been observed in the country and the world over to highlight the problems and hardships of elderly people and roll out amenities and facilities to make their living a bit comfortable but in J&K State the Government is behaving quite opposite.
He pointed out that pensioners, after serving during prime age deserve preferential treatment. The Association has continuously been writing to all the concerned authorities from time to time but to no avail, he added.
The JKSPA president sought the intervention of the Advisor to prevail upon concerned authorities to pay their priority attention in resolving long outstanding grievances of pensioners which include payment of DA arrears to pre-2004 pensioners for the period from January to June 2009, extension of benefits of upgradation to Section Officers and certain other posts, who retired between 1-1-1996 to 19-2-2003.
“Moreover, those who have retired before 2006 did not get benefit of pension revision cases as software has yet not been developed in A.G’s office”, Krishan Singh said, adding as the State Government’s Group Mediclaim Health Insurance Scheme now stands scrapped, new scheme should be launched at the earliest but annual premium on this account is required to be affordable for pensioners of all ranks.
