SRINAGAR, Apr 7: Executive Chairman Jammu and Kashmir State Legal Services Authority (JKSLSA) Justice Mohammad Yaqoob Mir has directed Chairperson of District Legal Services Authority Srinagar (Principal District & Sessions Judge Srinagar) to constitute a core group headed by a Judicial Officer to reach out to the fire victims of Khonakhan Dalgate, Srinagar.
According to a statement issued by R N Wattal, Member Secretary JKSLSA, the step has been taken in terms of Scheme for Legal Services to Disaster Victims through Legal services Authorities.
“The core group has been constituted to coordinate with District Administration for timely evacuation of fire victims to the temporary camps (relief camps) opened in the affected areas, ensure smooth distribution of relief materials to the victims, assess the damage caused to the life and property of the victims so that the cases for disbursement of relief are processed expeditiously by District Administration, open temporary Legal Aid Clinics in the relief camp manned by Para Legal Volunteers to hear the grievances of the victims and forward the same to the district administration for their redressal,” the statement said.
It said the Chairman of DLSA Srinagar has also been directed to submit the consolidated report to the State Authority for further course of action.
