JAMMU, July 29: The Women Wing of Jammu Kashmir Sharnarthi Action Committee (JKSAC) has demanded eight seats reserved in the J&K Assembly for the displaced persons from PoJK.
A meeting of the Women Wing of Jammu Kashmir Sharnarthi Action Committee (JKSAC) was held at Lower Gadi Garh Jammu under the chairmanship of Savita Sharma, president wherein all the members of Executive body participated. The participants expressed their strong resentment against the govt. for nominating only one assembly seat for PoJK DPs and demanded the reservation of 1/3rd of 24 seats which has been freezed by all the Government from the past several decades and the present govt. also captivated the seats again.
Strongly reacting on the nomination of only one seat for DPs of PoJK Maninder Kour spokesperson alongwith Champa Devi, Amarjeet Kour, Seema Sharma and Rita Raina said that it is a matter of serious concern for DPs of PoJK who have been once again ignored and ditched by govt whom they supported from the core of their heart. She said that people who left their house people who left their houses out of fear and having certain social adverse conditions have been given two assembly seats whereas DPs of PoJK who sacrificed their dignity and honour besides loss of lives and properties and being given only one seat.
She said that DPs were demanding de-freezing of their share of assembly seats from the last many decades but their voice was crushed. She said that the constituted JPC on Home Affairs has also made recommendations to GoI to de-freeze 1/3rd share of assembly (8) seats for DPs besides other issues, to enable them to represent their aspirations. These recommendations are still lying in the cold store of the govt awaiting implementation. She said that the DPs were very hopeful that BJP led govt. besides other issue would take care of this basic demand and would reserve their 1/3rd share of seats for them but unfortunately as such only one seat has been recommended for them.
