JAMMU, Feb 6: Jammu Kashmir Pahari People Movement (JKPPM) organized a one day convention at Thannamandi and demanded ST status.
The convention was presided over by SA Mughal and organised by GN Khan, block president JKPPM.
Speaking on the occasion, SA Mughal and GN Khan said that Government must grant ST Status to Pahari Community without any further delay.
Advocate RS Mehta, spokesman, JKPPM and Advocate Abdul Qadar Khan, State Co-ordinator, Pahari Legal Cell appealed to the Pahari Community people to remain united to fight against discrimination with the community.
Shahbaz Khan, Chief Executive, JKPPM said that it is shame on the part of previous Governments and politicians that despite J&K High Court direction for grant of ST status to the to seven Sub Castes including Paharies at number 1, nothing has been done till date, he added that some anti-national and anti-social elements do not want peace in the Pahari region and played anti-Paharies role and misguided the Central Government.
Khan said that State and Central Government are provoking them to start community war in the region and if such happens it will take ugly turn in future.
