JAMMU, Sept 12: An emergent meeting of Jammu Kashmir Peoples Democratic Trade Union (JKPDTU) was held under the chairmanship of Suresh Sharma its President where various leaders of public, private, autonomous and Government sector employees participated.
In the meeting concern was shown over the working of erstwhile Employees Provident Fund organization (EPFO) which has miserably failed to transfer Employees Provident Fund to Central EPFO after State became UT.
They alleged that the employees are being harassed at the hands of agent system prevailing ,which are duping the employees in case one goes to withdraw their life savings on one pretext or the other. The organisation had not maintained or digitized the records in the past and failed to transfer hard earned money to Central EPFO.
Suresh Sharma warned that if authorities dare to slash interest rate on deposits, there will be large scale demonstrations in both the UTs and for any consequences arising out of it the EPFO shall be solely responsible. He appealed Lt Governor, Manoj Sinha for his urgent intervention to ensure that employees get due interest as fixed by GOI from 2014 onwards. In case there is financial lapses on the part of this organization, the defaulters should be booked under law.
It is surprising and horrifying that inspite of repeated objections the JKEPFO is going ahead with their move of slashing down of interest on deposits drastically to hide financial mismanagement by the fund managers of the time .He appealed setting up of Inquiry Commission to enquire into whole gambit.
Sharma appealed Chief Secretary of the UT to look into as to how the EPFO has charged 5% administrative charges when whole of the record is being updated by the staff of various employees of subscriber organizations .
Mrs C.K.Sudan, Aijaz Darzi, Ashok Sharma, Anchal Bakshi, and various representative of various private and Government organisations attended the meeting.
