JAMMU, Feb 13: Stressing upon the wards of police personnel for getting modern education, Director General of Police (DGP), Dr. S. P. Vaid, has said that in the present times quality education has been gaining more importance to make the career of students brighter.
He said that the parents have also responsibilities to guide their wards towards right path so that they could become responsible citizens of the society.
Dr. Vaid was addressing at a meeting of Executive Body of Police Parivar Fund held at Police Headquarters here today. The meeting sanctioned scholarships over Rs. 15 lakh in favour of 285 wards of JKP police personnel, who have secured above 80 percent marks in annual examinations of class 10th and Post Gradation level during academic year 2015-16, besides wards of martyrs.
DGP said that the objective of granting scholarship is to boost the talent among the children so that they could compete in different fields to build their career. He stressed upon the parents to make best use of these scholarships for the future studies of their wards. He said that in the present times our wards have to face tough competition to find a room in any discipline. Scholarships are being sanctioned in favour of the meritorious students out of Central Police Welfare Fund, who secure high marks in different examinations, said the DGP.
He said that organization is taking various welfare measures to promote educational career of the wards of its personnel, which include setting up of police public schools at various district headquarters, grant of scholarships in favour of meritorious wards and the children of deceased personnel.
DGP said that police organization, besides other measures, has started so many schemes under its welfare programme to benefit its personnel and the families of police martyrs. He further said that efforts are on to provide better educational facilities to the wards of police personnel. Department has a realization that the police personnel remains away of their homes in service of the Nation and their families does not get the required care. It is the responsibility of the organization to encourage the wards of these personnel for competing various competitive examinations for their better career prospects, said the DGP.
