JAMMU, Dec 31: Director General of Police (DGP), Ashok Prasad has reiterated the commitment of Jammu and Kashmir Police to public service for maintaining peace and instill a sense of security amongst the masses.
The DGP said that after creating conducive atmosphere, the force are constantly maintaining pressure on the anti-national elements and also focusing on public service and professional policing. The State Police with its professional skills and active cooperation of all sections of the society was successful in meeting bigger challenges, said the DGP, adding that a sense of security has prevailed in the State as reflected by the arrival of more than 11 lakh tourists and 5.54 lakh Amar Nath pilgrims, besides over 92 lakh Mata Vaishno Deviji pilgrims during the year, which boosted economy of the people.
Elaborating achievements of the organization and listing various welfare measures schemes for the police personnel, the DGP said that during the year 2013 more than Rs 25 crores were sanctioned for the welfare of serving and retired personnel including the SPOs and their families.
“The Organization succeeded in achieving desired results on all fronts during the bygone year and this was not possible without the cooperation of people and generous support of the Government, particularly the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah,” Mr Prasad said and assured that Police would continue its efforts with dedication to serve the people and the nation.
