JKNPP protests steep rise in fuel prices

MAJALTA, July 4: Activists of J&K National Panthers Party (JKNPP) led by Harsh Dev Singh, Chairman JKNPP here today staged a protest demonstration against the continuous hike in fuel and gas prices in the country.
Claiming that India’s petrol and diesel prices are highest in Southeast Asia, Harsh Dev Singh said, the prices of crude oil had fallen sharply across the world and the BJP led Central government is levying heavy excise duty on petrol and diesel in the country.
He further said, at the time when GST was introduced to rationalize indirect taxes in the country, it was indeed hypocritical to keep petro-products outside its ambit in order to raise additional central revenues.
“The retail prices of petrol and diesel still continue to inflate on frequent basis amid Corona pandemic when the crude oil only costs Rs. 23 per litre to the oil companies,” Singh claimed.
He further pointed out that prices of almost all the essential commodities including the staple vegetables, edible oils, dairy products had also crossed all time high to victimize a common man.
Sarpanch Dharam Singh Bittu, Sarpanch Karnail Singh, Sarpanch Feroz Din, Sarpanch Raj Kumar Sharma and others were also present in the protest demonstration.
