JAMMU, Feb 3: Alleging large scale malpractices, bungling, nepotism and corruption in the process of selections conducted by various recruitment agencies, including SSB and PSC for Government jobs, Panthers Party activists today held a protest demonstration seeking abolition of interviews in the selection process to Government services.
Led by Harshdev Singh, chairman JKNPP and Yashpal Kundal, State president Young Panthers, the JKNPP activists raised slogans in support of the demand.
While addressing the demonstration, Harshdev Singh pointed out that while the interviews for Class III and Class IV posts were abolished in rest of the country from January 1st this year, J&K Government remained non-chalant on the issue and continued with the practice of holding interviews for such selections. He appealed the Governor to effect an immediate change in recruitment policy for State Government jobs by abolition of the interview system and making selections on the basis of academic merit itself in conformity with the repeated announcements of Prime Minister. He said that there have been several instances where process of interview was abused and merit subverted by awarding disproportionate marks to the tail-enders and regretted that the practice was still continuing.
Yash Paul Kundal said that interview process should be dispensed with while holding selections to 6000 posts recently advertized by the J&K State Government. He further demanded the extension of facility of self-attestation of certificates by the educated unemployed youth in the State of J&K as they were still required to attest their degree from Gazetted officers.
Prominent among those who joined the demonstration, included Manju Singh, Gagan Partap, Kesar Parveen, Makhan Lal, Renu Singh, Sanjeev Verma, Karnail Singh, Charan Dass, Rajesh Padgotra, Sham Lal, Shankar Chib, Agya Ram, Neeraj Gupta, Sanju, Ajeet Kumar and others.
