JAMMU, June 25: Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) paid rich tributes to Karan Dev Singh, founder member of the party on his 25th death anniversary at party headquarters here today.
Harshdev Singh, MLA and Chairman NPP, Balwant Singh Mankotia, MLA, President of the party and Yashpal Kundal MLA Samba presided over the remembrance ceremony which was attended by hundreds of party workers.
Daljit Singh, vice-president, Anita Thakur, general secretary, Bansi Lal Sharma, political advisor to JKNPP, Faqir Nath, Ex-MLA and provincial president, Jagdev Singh, coordination secretary, Naresh Chib, district president, Jammu city, Pushvinder Singh Manhas, senior vice president, Young Panthers, Gagan Pratap Singh, spokesman Young Panthers, besides many others highlighted the achievements of Karan Dev Singh.
Gagan Dev Singh, son of late Karan Dev Singh in his tearful tributes assured the party leadership that he shall help accomplish the unfinished agenda to protect the identity of Dogra Pardesh which was commitment of his father.
Meanwhile, Prof Bhim Singh, chief patron and founder of the Panthers Party paid tributes to Karan Dev Singh from New Delhi on his death anniversary.
Prof Bhim Singh described Karan Dev Singh as a great friend, philosopher, a great humanist who suffered jail tortures, expulsion and what not while fighting longest battle for justice for the people of Jammu Pradesh.
He stated that Karan Dev Singh was imprisoned for 13 months with other student leaders in 1961 when he along with Bhim Singh lowered the State flag from the Secretariat in honour of Maharaja Hari Singh.
Prof Bhim Singh reminded JKNPP workers about the sacrifices and contributions made by Durga Das Abrol, Jugdishwar Sambyal, Jagdish Dogra, Meenakshi Thakur, K R Khajuria, labour leader, Raj Kumar Sehgal, Yogi Thakur, Mohammad Bangi and several others who died young because of the jail tortures and suppression.
