JKNPP holds protest demanding restoration of AIIMS to Jammu

SAMBA, Apr 9: Carrying forward the agitation for the restoration of AIIMS to Jammu region, thousands of Panthers Party activists staged an impressive one day sit-in protest demonstration here today.
The protest was led by Harshdev Singh, chairman JKNPP and former Minister, Balwant Singh Mankotia, president JKNPP and Yashpal Kundal, president, Young Panthers along with Shiv Charan Singh, District President Samba and other senior leaders.
Expressing dismay, Harshdev Singh lambasted the BJP leadership for surrendering Rs 1600 crores AIIMS to Kashmir that was actually announced for Jammu region.
Harshdev Singh said that despite announcements having been made by two Union Ministers at New Delhi it was shocking to note as to how the BJP partnered Government in the State allowed the prestigious project to be transferred to Kashmir.
Maintaining that AIIMS, an All India level premier institution for Health and Medical Education which not only caters to the Health services but also provides the facilities for advanced research was a long cherished dream of Jammu which was promised by the successive Governments.
Balwant Singh Mankotia while expressing his anger over the discrimination meted out to the Jammu region condemned the BJP for playing the politics of betrayal with the gullible people of Jammu Pradesh by retreating from its core issues and promises made to the electorate ahead of Assembly elections last year.
While speaking, Yashpal Kundal cautioned the BJP to arise, awake and start raising the issues of Jammu Pradesh as the anger and frustration is brewing and seething among the masses.  He said that the non-restoration of AIIMS to Jammu would prove disastrous and detrimental to the saffron party.
Other leaders who spoke in the protest demonstration included Naresh Sharma, Balram Kundal, Tony Sharma, Sarpanch Naginder Singh, Sarpanch Romesh Singh, Sarpanch Pritam Chand, Sarpanch Bishan Dass and Sarpanch Krishan Lal.
