JAMMU, May 1: Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee’s Minority Department and president J&K Motor Transport Companies Association (JKMTCA), Gajan Singh Khajuria today asked the Union and Jammu and Kashmir Governments to provide financial assistance to the transport sector.
“Movement of all vehicles, except for those providing essential services, are prohibited during the lockdown imposed to prevent the spread of Coronavirus,” he said.
He further said since the lockdown was imposed, the vehicles of the transporters have been parked due to which they (transporters), drivers and cleaners are facing a lot of problems. Their family has run out of money and they are unable to buy even things of basic needs. The Government should help drivers and cleaners in these tough times.
“Many transporters are even unable to pay back the instalment of their loans they have taken,” he added.
