JAMMU, Oct 24: Jammu Kashmir Medical Employees Federation (JKMEF) today held a protest/dharna at Madam Shashi Bala Memorial Park in the premises of Directorate of Health Services Jammu under the leadership of its president, Sushil Sudan.
Medical employees of almost all the categories from all over the Jammu province participated in the protest. The leaders/representatives of the block units, district units and provincial units highlighted their grievances. They said that even after repeated appeals from various organizations of the health employees, personally as well as through electronic and print media, their problems were not redressed.
Secretary general of JKMEF, Vinod Kumar Sharma, reiterated the burning demands of the employees which include clearance of departmental promotion of all categories to fill up the vacant posts at various levels, adoption of transparency in transfer policy of department, amendment of SRO-20 which is still pending in secretariat since 25 years, national benefit to the all adhoc and contractual employees of the department, and risk allowance to all medical employees.
Sharma also stressed for filling up of all vacant posts of gazetted/non-gazatted cadre as per sanctioned position in rural areas as well as in urban health institutions, implementation of Bio-Metric attendance at gazetted level at par with non- gazetted employees and adequate supply of medicine in all institutions.
Sushil Sudan in his concluding address announced that they have unanimously decided to observe a block wise chain hunger strike in Jammu division from tomorrow i.e. October 25 in support of the above mentioned demands.
He said that the chain hunger strike will be started from block Bishnah & will be continued block-wise till the redressal of all their demands. “Besides, protest dharnas will be started at district level too”, he added.
