JAMMU, April 23: JK Medical Employees Federation (JKMEF), Jammu province today demanded Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) to immediately install decontamination and sanitization tunnel at Directorate of Health Services (DHS), Jammu to curve through the infection of COVID-19 pandemic.
In a statement issued here, JKMEF president Sushil Sudan said sanitation tunnel is the need of the hour as whole world is under the pandemic. Even Jammu has reported many positive cases of Coronavirus. The principle behind disinfectant tunnel is simply wash your hands and walk through a tunnel in which overhead sprayers sprinkle disinfectant. This two step process can considerably reduce the number of germs on an individual, he added.
Sudan demanded LG Administration to insure that World Health Organization guidelines are being followed. Even though the exact level of efficiency own employees passing through this tunnel cannot be determined, the unit will help supplement other measures like maintaining social distancing and bearing a mask for better personal hygiene he said.
“These disinfectant tunnels are easy to set up. However it is still important to note that disinfection tunnel are not 100% effective and are only supplementary to existing measures like washing hands bearing masks and maintaining physical distance,” Sudan maintained.
