JAMMU, Apr 3: The Jammu and Kashmir Legal Services Authority (JKLSA) today organized an awareness-cum-orientation program for stress management at District Jail, Amphalla, Jammu.
This initiative, spearheaded by the Chief Justice, aimed to address the mental health concerns of both the jail inmates and staff.
Conducted in collaboration with the Department of Prisons, UT of J&K, and District Legal Services Authority, Jammu, the program sought to benefit the officers and officials of District Jail, Amphalla.
Justice Tashi Rabstan, Judge of High Court of J&K and Ladakh, and Executive Chairman of J&K Legal Services Authority, directed the Principal District & Sessions Judge (Chairman, District Legal Services Authority) Jammu to organize the awareness program.
Notable attendees included Sanjay Parihar, Principal District & Sessions Judge and Chairman of District Legal Services Authority Jammu, Amit Kumar Gupta, Member Secretary, J&K Legal Services Authority, and other distinguished guests.
Harish Kotwal, Superintendent of District Jail, Amphalla, Jammu, extended a warm welcome, expressing gratitude for the Authority’s initiatives aimed at alleviating the mental anguish of prisoners.
Dr T R Raina, a renowned former Professor and Head, Department of Blood Transfusion Medicine and Program Director at the Advanced Yoga Center, Ministry of Ayush, GoI, GMC Jammu, shared an enlightening audio-visual talk on stress-related issues and their mitigation through yogic practices.
He emphasized the importance of awareness programs for prison staff, who face unique challenges due to their interactions with inmates involved in various crimes.
Dr Raina highlighted the adverse effects of impure food and stressed the significance of personal development initiatives for staff well-being and job performance enhancement.
Smriti Sharma, Secretary, DLSA Jammu, conducted the vote of thanks, concluding the program on a positive note.
