JKGRS celebrates Gopa Ashtami

JAMMU, Nov 10: Jammu and Kashmir Gow Raksha Samiti celebrated Gopa Ashtami in Hindu traditional ways in the premises of Gow Shala Bhawan at Ambphalla, here today.
Huge portraits of Gopal Krishan alongwith sacred Gow Mata were placed on the stage.
Devotees in large number attended the function and paid obeisance to take blessings of Bhagwan Gopal Krishan.
Dr Surinder Kumar Shastri highlighted the significance of the day and said on this day, Bhagwan Krishna sought the permission of his mother to go to jungle for grazing cows.
He said that this day falls on 8th day of Kartik, the Bikrami Samvat, adding that the ‘Cow’ is also called ‘Gow Mata’ because like human beings she also apart from nourishing child in her womb for 9 months, gives milk which is like nector to human beings.
Urging upon the Government to put ban on cow slaughtering, he informed about the steps to be taken in this direction.
Shrimad Vijay Nityanand Sureshwar Ji Maharaj was the chief guest on the occasion, while Prof Parmeshwar Narayan Shastri was the special invitee and Prof Chaman Lal Gupta, former Union Minister was also present.
The function concluded with Gow pujan and chanting of Ganga Gita Gow Mata, Bharat Ke Hai Nirmata.
A good amount was donated by the dignitaries on the occasion.
