JKEEGA calls off sit- in protest

JAMMU, Mar 29: Jammu and Kashmir Electrical Engineering Graduates Association has announced to call off sit-in protest after multiple rounds of talks were held with the Government.
The talks were led by Er Sachin Tickoo, President and Er Pirzada Hidayatullah, General Secretary with the Administration in the presence of Chief Secretary and Principal Secretary PDD.
The talks were held in a very cordial atmosphere wherein the association put forward that identifying the areas of poor performance and taking action against such elements is top most priority of the Engineers, but at the same time a justified fairground level playing field should be there.
While stating that association was deeply perturbed over the suspensions of 12 Engineers of the Power Development Department currently on deputation to JPDCL/KPDCL on unrealistic grounds by the Administrative Department PDD, it was highlighted that suspended engineers have been made scapegoats and their suspensions has been used to hide real problems like poor infrastructure, lack of adequate staff and non metering, partial ABC cabling and most importantly poor performance of Central PSUs in implementing centrally sponsored schemes.
After deliberations between both the sides, the management agreed to issue charge sheet in respect of suspended engineers immediately and evaluate suspension orders based on reasoned replies of the concerned engineers. It was also mutually decided that a Technical Committee shall evaluate and submit reasonable achievables vis-à-vis the Billing efficiency, collection efficiency and AT&C losses with respect to 11KV feeders. The order to this effect was issued post the meeting vide Government Order No : 67-JK(PDD) of 2024, Dated :29-03-2024.
Based on the these positive developments and understanding of the management about the key measures sought by the association for ensuring accountability in a reasoned manner from all engineers, JKEEGA Guidance Council decided to call off the sit in protest programme scheduled on 30th March and decided to call Guidance Meetings at both Jammu and Kashmir to review the progress.
