JAMMU, Aug 30: J&K Electrical Engineering Graduates Association (JKEEGA) while expressing grave concern over the premature transfers of engineers in the PDD and PDC today demanded that the Government should frame a proper transfer policy in the Department.
In its meeting here, today held under the chairmanship of Er. Doulat Ram Bhagat the president of the Association expressed its dismay over the authoritarian attitude of the Government and harassment created to the engineering cadre by making premature transfers of various engineers just to adjust the blue eyed boys in their place.
It said the premature transfers of Chief Engineers, Superintending Engineers and Executive Engineers is a cause of concern for the Association and  such tactics of harassing the engineers will not be tolerated.
It said the Association is in a dilemma that hardworking engineers are being harassed due to political highhandedness and this practice should be stopped for the overall interests of the State. It said neither Government is coming up with the new transfer policy not is it adhering to the existing policy.
The meeting said it is astonishing that premature transfer of a competent officer is made for unknown reasons and that too without a replacement. The charge of such vital post is given in the shape of additional charge and this show the total non-seriousness of the Government towards the Department. Such an attitude of Government has totally demoralized the hardworking engineers, the meeting added.
The Association in an appeal to Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister has urged them to maintain a check on premature transfers  and save the department from further  deterioration.
