JAMMU, Feb 22: A delegation of J&K College Teachers’ Association (JKCTA) led by its President Dr Rakesh Jasrotia met Dr Jitendra Singh, MoS PMO and apprised him of the issues of college teachers.
The long pending issue of restoration of increments for higher qualifications of PhD/MPhil was raised vehemently with the Minister. The Minister was apprised that the incentives for higher qualifications were given to the College Teachers but were withdrawn with the implementation of 7th UGC Pay Review Committee in J&K on 31 May, 2018. The non-compounded increments were restored for College and University Teachers by UGC in its Regulations notified on 18th July, 2018. After the notification of UGC Regulation-2018, all the Universities of J&K including Jammu University, Kashmir University, SKUAST, etc, which had withdrawn the increments have restored the same immediately but the college teachers have been discriminated in this regard as the concurrence of the Finance Department is pending for more than one year, the delegation said.
The issue of age enhancement of college teachers was also presented before the Minister who was apprised that the age of superannuation for the college teachers in J&K is not at par with the Universities and colleges of other UTs and universities of UT of J&K too.
Dr Jitendra Singh listened to the delegation patiently and assured of early redressal of both the issues of College Teaching fraternity. Besides, he also assured of redressal of other issues of college teachers which were brought into his notice from time to time.
