JKCCTU endorses support to Feb 20, 21 nationwide strike

JAMMU, Feb 6: J&K Coordination Committee of Trade Unions (JKCCTU) in a one day convention here today endorsed full support to two days nationwide strike on February 20 and 21, the call of which has been given by Central Trade Unions and Employees Federations.
State president of the CCTU Mohammed Maqbool presided the convention which was attended by trade union leaders of all sectors including Public Sector, private Sector, State and Central Government employees’ representatives.
Subash Lamba assistant general secretary, All India State Government Employees Federation while inaugurating the convention criticized new liberal economic and working class policies which resulted in sky rocketing prices, large scale unemployment and attack on social security system like pension and resulted into mass contractualization and casualisation of jobs.
Mr Lamba said it is for the first time in the history of Trade Union Movement of India that all Central Trade Unions and employees organizations have come on a single platform on five point charter of demands and decided to go on two days nationwide strike on February 20 and 21.
He appealed the working class of the state to observe a complete strike and show solidarity with trade union movement of the country.
A resolution was unanimously adopted during the convention in which the strike call was fully endorsed and an appeal was made to working class to observe the complete strike on both the days.
It was also decided that on February 20 protest demonstration will be held at tehsil and district level all over the state which will be followed by massive protests at provincial level in Summer and Winter capitals of the state next day.
The prominent trade union leaders of the state who addressed the convention included Gurmeet Singh, Sushil Sudhan, Suresh Sharma, Aijaz Khan, Nirdosh Uppal, Raj Kumar, O P Samyal, O P Khajuria, Gafoor Dar, Comrade Mohan Lal and Ram Kumar Sharma (PDD).
