JKCCA to host Intl Art Exhibition in memory of Gobind Kaur

JAMMU, Aug 10: Jammu & Kashmir Centre for Creative Arts (JKCCA), Jammu is organizing 7th International Online Art Exhibition in the loving memory of late Gobind Kaur, 1st contemporary woman sculptor of J&K.
The exhibition being held to commemorate her death anniversary (11th August), will be inaugurated on 16th August. The paintings, drawings and sculptures of 160 artists from eight countries including artists from 22 states/union territories of the country will be displayed in the exhibition.
According to O P Sharma, Director, JKCCA & Curator of the show, “The exhibition would give a look of artworks, styles, techniques, mediums and ideas of various artists hailing from different parts of the globe.” He said that JKCCA is regularly holding shows and other art & cultural events of JKCCA even during the hard times.
Late Gobind Kaur, a well known name in the field of art of Jammu & Kashmir, had been the student of late V R Khajuria, a renowned sculptor of Jammu. She did her BFA from Institute of Music & Fine Arts and served there till her death in an accident during 2011. She started displaying her talent through her art pieces at Jahangir Art Gallery, Mumbai.
She has worked in multiple mediums like clay, terracotta, plaster of Paris, cement and metal casting, wood, metal and other non traditional materials as well did drawings, paintings and graphic art also. Her art has been displayed at various places in India and abroad. She was honoured by many organizations for her contribution in the field of sculpture and graphic prints.
It may be mentioned here that JKCCA is a premier organization of J&K working with missionary zeal for the last 21 years for the development of Art, Culture & Languages in and outside the state.
