JAMMU, Dec 16: J&K Batwal Welfare Association (JKBWA) today expressed concern over hefty increase in the ration rates, stating that hike in ration prices have come as a blow to the common man who is already under financial duress due to sky high inflation in the essential commodities.
Deliberating over the issue during a meeting of the association, the members said pulses had already disappeared from the poor man’s ‘thaali’ and now the ‘roti’ is going to vanish as a result of sudden hike in ration rates which is unjustified, unconstitutional and needs to be rolled back immediately in case the poor common man has to survive.
Association members further said uncertainty prevails in the system as to the category, scale of ration and the rates applicable amongst all categories of ‘rationees’ which is most confusing as enhanced rate of ration is being charged from one and all.
The association urged the Government of Jammu and Kashmir to lower down ration rates in the larger interest of general public.
