JKB holds financial literacy program

SRINAGAR, Dec 1: J&K Bank conducted a financial literacy-cum-counseling program at Girls Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Budgam in which Deputy CEO Budgam Fatima Qari, Principal GHSS Budgam Farooq Ahmed Raina, faculty members and a large number of students participated.
The bank’s Marketing Division, Kashmir Central organized the program in collaboration with ILM, an NGO working in education sector. The aim of program was to impart financial education to the students and counsel them about the bank’s various financial products tailored particularly for the student community.
Fatima Qari said that these programmes would go a long way in helping the student community to shape up and decide about their future careers.
Reaching out to the student community, earlier the marketing team educated the students about these tailor-made products like Student Saving Account, Mehandi Deposit Certificate and Child Care Deposit etc.
The bank’s Financial Literacy and Credit Counseling centre (FLCC) Pulwama conducted a number of awareness camps in Nagendar in Khrew, and Ratnipora and Ukhoo in Kakapora in the district. These camps were organized in co-ordination with the bank’s business units operating in these areas.
Besides Facilitator FLCC; LDM Pulwama, Director RSETI Pulwama, Heads of local business units and their respective BCs were also present in the camps, whose main focus was Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) and J&K Bank’s Loan Relief Package for flood affected borrowers.
Speaking on the occasion, Facilitator M S Parray described at length the features of PMJDY and impressed upon the public to ensure that everyone in village opens and maintains an account under this highly ambitious scheme.
LDM Pulwama spoke about the general features of loan relief and rehabilitation package announced by the bank for flood affected borrowers.
Meanwhile, a Mega Camp under PMJDY was organized by the business unit Khonmoh at Village Munpora in collaboration with Lead Bank Department Srinagar, which was attended by a large number of local residents. LDM Srinagar Nissar Ahmad apprised the participants of different benefits of the PMJDY.
