JKAACL organizes traditional folk music programme

JAMMU, Nov 8: Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and languages (JKAACL) today organized a traditional folk music programme at village Bagyal in district Kathua.
Narinder Singh Bali, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kathua was the chief guest while Dr Bharat Bhushan, Chief Executive Officer, Lakhanpur Sarthal Development Authority, Department of Tourism and Culture, was the guest of honour. DC Salotra, Session Judge (retd), Rattan Chand, SSP (retd) and Dr Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary, JKAACL, were also present in the presidium.
While speaking on the occasion, Narinder Singh Bali complimented the Academy for organizing such a programme in rural area. He said that through these cultural activities the youth of the area can be encouraged to inculcate in them the rich and old traditional values.
While applauding the performance of artists, Dr Bharat Bhushan said that Vibha Bharti and Dilsher Singh who also performed in this programme have succeeded to introduce Kathua district at national level through their talent of singing and it’s a matter of proud to have such talent in this region.
Earlier, while welcoming the distinguished guests and audience, Dr Arvinder said that the Academy has now taken an initiative to reach to the rural and remote areas of various parts of Jammu region and this activity is part of the schedule of Academy.
The artists who performed in the traditional folk music programme were Dilsher Singh and Party (Kathua), Ramesh Lal Dogra and Party (Nagri Parol), Shakti Lalotra and Party (Bagyal) and Rajesh Kohli.
Dr Sudhir Mahajan, senior Drama Instructor of JKAACL, conducted the proceedings and also presented vote of thanks.
