JAMMU, Oct 19: J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages today organized a folk music programme at village Langotian in Miran area of district Jammu.
RK Sharma, Principal of the Sun Shine Public School was the chief guest on the occasion while Dr Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary, Ashok Gupta, Editor Dogri were the guests of honour.
RK Sharma expressed his gratitude towards the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages for holding such programme for the students who are not well conversant with their cultural values. He said that such events especially for the new generation play a vital role in maintaining the cultural ambience in the society.
Dr Arvinder Singh while extending his welcome address extended gratitude to the school administration, staff and students who provided the space to present the cultural programme in this remote and border area of the Jammu region. He made the special mention of the aims and objectives of the JKAACL and detailed about the future activities.
The folk parties of the area who participated include: Thoru Ram and Party (RS Pura), Kanta Devi and Party (Chakshian), Ved Prakash and Party (Banagarh) and Jeet Ram and Party (Shahzadpur) from RS Pura.
The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Bishan Das, Assistant Cultural Officer and the vote of thanks was presented by Ashok Gupta, Editor Dogri, JKAACL. Anil Tiku, Assistant Cultural Officer assisted in organizing this event.
