UDHAMPUR, Nov 18: Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages today organized one-day Dogri Seminar at Ram Nagar.
Om Parkash Jandriari, renowned Dogri poet, presided over the seminar while Omesh Singh, Tehsildar, Ram Nagar was the chief guest. Jagdish Kumar, Naib Tehsildar Ram Nagar, Rajesh Modi, Principal, Rising Pillars School, Ram Nagar, Dr Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary, Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages were also present in the presidium.
Speaking on the occasion, Romesh Singh appreciated the paper readers for sharing information about the literature being written in Dogri in Udhampur district. He also emphasized on speaking Dogri language at home and amongst the Dogra community during their normal life activities.
While delivering his presidential address, Om Parkash Jandriari, highlighted the contribution of district Udhampur in the Dogri literature and language. He said that organizing such activities in the educational institutions provides the youth a platform to interact with the legend writers of the region and also know about the contribution of the writer community of Udhampur.
Parkash Premi, prominent Dogri writer, scholar and poet, presented key note address and very scholarly portrayed the sketch of Dogri writers, poets, playwrights, scholars, historians and folk performers.
The writers and scholars, who presented their papers, included Sunil Kumar (Jila Udhampur Da Dogri Kahani Ki Jogdan), Jagdeep Dubey, (Jila Udhampur Da Dogri Natak Ki Jogdan), Deshbandu Nutan Dogra, (Jila Udhampur Da Dogri Novel Ki Jogdan).
Dr Rattan Basotra, Editor Dogri, conducted proceedings of the seminar while Ramesh Modi, Principal, Rising Pillars School, Ram Nagar presented vote of thanks.
The poets, who presented their poetry in the session, included Sars Bharti, Mohinder Kumar Pagal, Om Parkash Jandriari, Duni Chand Tripathi, Thakur Dass Samthyal, Des Raj, Amit Kumar, Ramalo Ram, Vijay Kumari and Manju Bala.
