JAMMU Oct 14: The eight day long protest by the employee of J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages was today suspended on the assurance given by the Vice President of the Academy, Zafar Iqbal Manhas, who personally arrived here from Srinagar to listen to the long pending demands of the employees.
The decision to suspend the strike was announced in the press conference, addressed by Ramesh Singh, president, J&K Cultural Academy Employee’s Union; Rajinder Kumar, vice president, J&K National Trade Union Front; Pankaj Sharma, president Jammu Division; Sunil Sharma, general secretary, Reyaz Mehmood, secretary, Rita Khadyal and Anil Tickoo, advisers JKCAEU.
Reiterating demands of the employees, Ramesh Singh informed that Manhas gave them assurance that their demands would be taken up in the forthcoming Central Committee meeting. It was also discussed that the languages which are spoken at both the place viz Jammu and Srinagar like Urdu, Kashmiri, Punjabi, English, Gojri, Pahari etc, the Editors of those sections should also be kept in Darbar Move.
